OUR STORY

In mid-December of 2011, Gordy and I both experienced some pretty big life events.  He graduated from BYU with his bachelor's in Business Mangaement: Finance and I returned home from my life-changing semester abroad in Jerusalem.  While spending some of the break at my Jru roomie Shannon's parents home in Salt Lake (if that's not confusing enough here's more), her older sister asked us if she could set us up with some friends of hers.  We said yes...

That's how Gordy and I met on a blind date on January 27, 2012.  We both still remember this date as clear as day, and I hope we always do! I opened the door not knowing what my date looked like--a true blind date!  Gordy said I had to be blind to go out with him, but we all know he is incredibly good looking so that's not true! We had a big group dinner, went to the U vs BYU gymnastics meet, and had dessert/played just dance afterwards.

^^The gymnastics meet. (So cute at that age!) ^^
Next to Gordy is my friend Shannon and Gordy's friend Aaron.

The date was fun, but not deserving of a post-date text I thought.  So G texted me instead and three days later asked me out on our SECOND date to a Jazz game.  The best part was that I was freaked out he was moving too fast--I mean THREE days later!  The next best part was that we doubled with his parents.  The actual best part was that he didn't tell me that we were doubling with his parents until we were almost there...luckily I don't panic in the face of danger! (Kidding, our second date was fun as well, and of course I loved his parents right away.)

^^^ Jazz game, jazz game!^^

The rest is not actually history.  We went on weekly dates, hung out before G's hockey games in Provo, and talked often.  But after insisting I keep dating other boys (Gordy was scared that I was 19), life became more complicated.  But don't worry we eventually worked it all out, made it over some bumps in the road, and became exclusive the beginning of May.  That summer was magical.  We fell in love with each other day after day and eventually said it up at his family's ranch one evening.  G will tell you it was on July 27, 2012 because he is good with dates.  Also, it was our 6 months. (And he gave me a silver belt buckle so I could be his cowgirl forever).

^^ He biked 100 miles (without training)!! ^^

Above and below: wedding dates.

In August I told him I wanted to marry him outside of the Mesa, AZ temple, and he played it off all cool.  I didn't know he'd been planning on it for much longer than I had, so was completely stunned into silence when he proposed on Labor Day weekend.  It was the most perfect proposal and of course I cried!  He is a total romantic. We had a wonderful engagement and got married November 17, 2012.  It was honestly the best day of our lives!  We are so grateful to be sealed together for eternity.

We lived in Provo for the first 9 months of our marriage, while Gordy worked and I went to school.  We moved to Birmingham, AL for G's grad school and truly loved our adventure in the South! We are currently in Pennsylvania and so in love with this place we get to call home. Life is so fun,  and adventuring is something incredible, but it's especially sweet together. We've learned that it's so much more fulfilling and exciting to learn and grow together and we really can't imagine it differently. We are excited to see where life takes us!
