LEAVING ALABAMA

The day after my parents left, the packers came! We felt totally spoiled that the company was paying for our move, but it was amazing I won’t lie! And a little bit awkward haha.  The rules are that if we packed anything, they would make note of it and if anything inside that box broke, then we would be responsible for it.  However, if they packed it and it broke then they would reimburse us! So we weren’t allowed to touch anything, yet another rule was that we had to be present the whole time so we just had to sit in our partially boxed up apartment and watch them pack. Awkward, like I said, but such a dream at the same time! Two women packed our entire apartment in one day! They were amazing!  Then we spent the last night cleaning, saying some hard goodbyes, and crawling into bed way too late.  The movers arrived promptly at 8 am and loaded everything into a huge truck (after the driver miraculously weaseled his way through our hilly and narrow complex) and they were finished around 1:30.  I cleaned each room after they emptied it, so after they left I loaded all of our belongings into the Paseo that they couldn’t move (cleaning supplies, aerosols, etc.), and then had our final walk through.  We dropped off our Subaru at our friend’s house, said a few more goodbyes at UAB, and finally hit the road at about 5 pm to begin our drive to Pennsylvania!

^^ The best goodbye because it involved food! haha jokes goodbyes are never fun. But for reals, go to Bahama Bucks right now if you're reading this and have one near you. Then eat one for me!
We'll miss you guys, Johnsons! ^^

^^ Don't worry, our stuff didn't even take up a quarter of this truck. ^^

^^ Goodbye, 09K! You've been good to us! We won't miss the annoying music from downstairs played alllll day and night though. haha. Or the bugs. :/ I always hated those, although I did become more brave at killing them! ^^

It was a weird day, because it didn’t feel completely real.  We had known we would be moving since October, but here it was May and it just came way too fast! Plus, we knew we would be back for a day or so at the end of the month, so that made it feel much less final too.  I also think that a big part of us didn’t want to believe that our time in Alabama was over.  And at the same time we were so excited for our new adventure in Pennsylvania! It’s always a weird thing when your mind and heart battle each other.

^^ While packing, we found these sour patch watermelon candies from our wedding dinner and decided to take them for our road trip. They were still just as good!
haha which makes you a little bit scared to eat them... ^^

We stopped in Roanoke, VA for the night and pushed it a little bit past our bedtimes which was evidenced by the fact that I was angry by the time we arrived at our hotel...and for no reason. G is such a trooper for putting up with me. And we had to switch rooms because the first smelled like smoke, so at 2:30 am in the rain that was tons of fun! ha. We stopped to walk through our home (!!!!) and then continued our drive up to Rochester, NY.  Some of our besties live up there so we decided to see them and leave our car there for a month rather than pay for airport parking. (Spencer & Xan you guys are THE BEST!) Our belongings were put in storage in Pennsylvania and we left the next morning to fly to Utah for the month of May!
