MAY IN UTAH: PART II

Literally right after Amanda and Dallin left from their wedding dinner, we rushed home and packed up for the ranch! haha. We sure know how to gogogo.  We stopped in Heber for some avocado burgers at the Dairy Keen (a must if you're passing through Heber), and as I typed that I just had the biggest memory of a different time when G and I went there and he wouldn't let me put in a quarter to watch the Hogwart's Express chug along inside the restaurant. I was sooo sad. Seriously! It was the weirdest thing. But ever since then he has let me do it! haha I'm such a large child. Anyways, we spent a short weekend up at the ranch and it felt so good to be back on horses and to be away from civilization! We love that place so much.

^^ G always says that there is no better smell than a horse's neck and I have to say that I definitely love that scent too! He had been telling me for months that his horse missed him and I've got to think that is true because the first day we went up (not pictured) Bond was the first horse to greet G. There is such a connection between animals and humans and I never quite understood it until I married into this ranch. But these horses, man, they're something else. It's safe to say we're both obsessed! ^^

^^ A man and his horse. ^^

^^ This is Natalie's horse that is in his 30's! We don't ride him anymore (he stays in the "geriatric ward"), but Nat always makes sure to get pictures of her babies on him. ^^

I decided to ride Bond around bareback for a few minutes and it was really fun! It's kind of amazing to feel their muscles moving and definitely more slippery and bony, but so cool! Bond is way bigger than the horses I normally ride (taller and wider) so it was pretty hard to stay on haha. He was also a little jumpy and would switch directions quickly and one time he did that I slipped off! haha.  It felt like I was falling in slow motion. I knew I was going to fall, but I held on to him for a few seconds so that I could get both of  my feet under me at least, so that I wouldn't get stepped on.  That's the first time I've fallen off a horse! And luckily for me I didn't get hurt or anything, so I was able to hop right back on. He really is such a sweet horse and so so cute. (Yes, I know I sound like a crazy horse person and maybe I've become one?)

^^ Hunter is Mel's and I just love his wavy mane! Haha but poor guy can't ever see because his hair is too long. We measured and it was even longer than Mel's! ^^

On Sunday we celebrated Mother's day by spending time with both of our lovely mothers and skyping with my brother who was serving his mission in Chile! I really love those two...G and I are both blessed to have been raised by such great women. Over the next few days we spent time with family and friends in Provo, went to Zions National Park for a few days (separate post coming soon!), and spent a lovely day celebrating my dear friend Alison's wedding in Manti and going to two receptions in Provo that night. Also we tried Art City Donuts for the first time at Alison's reception and YUM I need some right now! Their french toast kind was mouth watering good! We saw a lot of my closest girl friends and tons of other high school friends so that was a blast! And who could forget G's honorable mention at Alison and Taylor's luncheon?! Haha I'll never forget the looks on everyone's faces at our table. Fun times with great people. We also took advantage of a rainy afternoon and went to the Bean Museum at BYU. I hadn't been since they remodeled it, but it was really neat! (And free!) They had this incredible bird exhibit that my mom and I stayed longer to look at while the boys went to play ping pong. Also, those butterflies!

^^ The two in the middle are some of our closest and just moved to Texas! So we had to stop by their party and say goodbye! ^^

^^ Man, I love this crew.  Why does it feel like our time together goes way too fast?! ^^

^^ Ashlyn pointed out the two giraffes and said, "Look! They're best friends! They're like you and me." Cue tears in my eyes! She is the sweetest little girl.
We definitely had to take a picture with the giraffes. ^^
